The proposed mixed‐use project, known as La Central, is comprised of five buildings on three blocks in
the Melrose/Hub neighborhood of the Bronx and includes affordable housing, supportive housing,
commercial space, and development of a new YMCA branch. La Central will continue the
transformation of The Hub section of the Bronx into a vibrant and diverse center. La Central Building E totals 274,216 gross square feet, 254 dwelling units, 1,567 square feet of street level retail and 9,488 square feet of community space. The Bronx Astronomy Tower – a rooftop‐mounted SDSS telescope that will be operated remotely by the Bronx High School of Science and broadcast city‐wide for NYC schools to expand their education in Physical Sciences.
